Trust & Methodology
Built to be verified, not just trusted
A Declaration of Conformity, a technical file, a risk assessment — these are legal artifacts you sign, with real liability attached if they're wrong. We map what applies to your product and teach you the process; you and your team own the evidence and the sign-off. We never take custody of your files.
1. What the compliance platform does
- Maps your product's inputs to the applicable directives, standards, tests, and document requirements for EU, UK, US, India, Canada, UAE, Hong Kong, Japan, and Australia.
- Produces a plan you can export (PDF/Markdown/DOCX) — a checklist of what applies and why.
- Lets you draft the documents it calls for, pre-filled from your project's own legislation and standards, and export them as PDF.
- Lets you track what you already have, across a team, as you work through it.
- Is free in full, with no account required to see the result and no paid tier above it.
1b. What we never hold
- We do not store your technical files. CertifiOS has no upload. Your test reports, drawings, and technical construction file stay wherever you keep them.
- We store the text of documents you draft here, so you can come back to them, and nothing else about your evidence.
- This is a deliberate design choice, not a missing feature: the fewer of your regulatory artifacts we hold, the less there is for us to lose, leak, or hold hostage.
- The one document Krono does store is a report we produced for you as a paid deliverable.
2. What courses and books do
- Teach the regulatory framework and the reasoning behind it — not just "check this box."
- Walk through how to actually prepare a technical file, a Declaration of Conformity, or a risk assessment yourself.
- Are built from the same regulatory graph as the free compliance platform, so the content is grounded in the same sourced citations.
- Are one-time purchases with lifetime access — no subscription.
3. What Krono does not do
- Does not provide legal advice or legal representation. Our consulting services are regulatory and engineering advice from experienced practitioners.
- Is not a notified body, UK approved body, FCC TCB or accredited test laboratory, and does not issue certificates or conformity decisions. In a consulting engagement we plan and coordinate that work with independent bodies; we don't replace them.
- Does not guarantee conformity, market access, or customs outcomes.
- Does not replace test lab evidence, product validation, or authorized signatories.
- Does not remove the manufacturer's legal responsibility for final declarations.
- Does not use AI to write any part of a document you will sign — drafted documents are graph-derived structure plus your own words.
- Does not store, host, or back up your technical documentation.
4. Transparency commitments
- We keep legal boundaries explicit in product and legal pages.
- We prefer narrower, verifiable scope over broad unsupported claims.
- We publish privacy, retention, and third-party processing disclosures.
5. Declaration of Conformity / Certificate templates
- Anyone can draft a standard EU Declaration of Conformity or US General/Children's Product Certificate in the built-in editor, pre-filled from their own project data, and export it as a PDF.
- The structure and the legislation/standards lists come from your project's own traversal of our regulatory graph; everything requiring judgment (product description, signatory, any claim about your product) is supplied by you. Nothing is AI-generated. Krono does not interpret or verify the legal content.
- The declarant named on the document is solely responsible for its accuracy and for compliance with applicable law.
6. How to verify Krono today
We prioritise technical transparency over marketing claims. Here is what you can check right now, without taking our word for it:
- Every directive and standard in your free roadmap links to the official source — EUR-Lex, legislation.gov.uk, BIS, FCC, FDA, CPSC, or the equivalent official body for Canada, UAE, Hong Kong, Japan, and Australia. Open any citation and read the original text.
- The compliance mapping documentation explains exactly how product inputs are resolved to applicable requirements — no black box.
- The privacy policy states our data retention and third-party processing commitments in plain language.
- Questions about a specific requirement or citation? Email [email protected] — we respond to technical queries directly.
